Our Cookie Policy describes how we use cookies and similar technologies on Effortless Thai

Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

Introduction

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or device as you use a website or app. They are used to operate the service, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the service is used. This policy describes the cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and tracking pixels) used by Effortless Thai. For how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

Our Use of Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for security and core functionality, to remember your settings, to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it, and to measure the performance of our advertising.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cannot be opted out of and are strictly necessary to operate and secure the Service.

Cookie namePurposeExpiration
session tokenAuthentication cookie set by our self-hosted Better Auth system to keep you signed inSession / up to ~30 days
csrf tokenCross-site request forgery prevention to ensure form submissions come from you~1 hour
app_settingsStores your theme, audio volume, and language preferences30 days

Functional Cookies

We use cookies and local storage for basic features of the Service — for example, to remember your app language, your display theme, and your audio volume preference. This information is stored locally on your device so the Service works the way you left it.

Authentication

Sign-in and sessions are handled by Better Auth, which we host ourselves. The session and CSRF cookies above are first-party cookies set by our own systems; your identity and session data are stored in our own database, not handed to a third-party identity provider. If you sign in with Google, Google receives a sign-in request as part of the standard OAuth flow.

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used and to diagnose errors. PostHog collects event and usage data (such as features used, pages viewed, device and browser information, and error logs) and may set cookies or use local storage to do so. PostHog requests are routed through our own domain (first-party proxied). We do not currently use session or screen recording.

Advertising

We use the Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our advertising. The Meta Pixel runs in your browser, may set advertising cookies, and shares page-view and conversion events with Meta; we also send some conversion events to Meta server-to-server via the Meta Conversions API. To match these events, we may share technical identifiers and a hashed version of your email address with Meta. The Meta Pixel currently loads for all visitors, and we do not operate a cookie consent banner for it. You can limit this tracking using the methods in the "Managing and Refusing Cookies" section below and in our Privacy Policy.

Payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by Polar, acting as our Merchant of Record. Polar handles checkout and payment on its own pages and may set cookies necessary to complete and secure your purchase, governed by Polar's own privacy terms.

Email

We use Resend for transactional emails (such as login links and notifications) and Mailchimp for marketing and product-update emails. These email tools may include tracking in messages we send; they do not set cookies on our website. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in each message.

Managing and Refusing Cookies

You can control and delete cookies as you wish. You can block some or all cookies through your browser settings, including private or incognito modes (note that some parts of the Service may not function properly if you do). To limit advertising tracking specifically, you can also:

  • adjust the ad and privacy settings on your browser or device;
  • manage your Meta ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings, or opt out via industry choices pages such as youronlinechoices.eu or optout.aboutads.info;
  • use a browser, extension, or content/ad blocker that blocks tracking scripts and pixels; and
  • enable a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal, which we treat as an opt-out where required by law.
